The Infamous/Famous Fiddle Leaf Fig

If this is your first time visiting our site, we would like to thank you if you’ve been here before you may notice that we like to mention the symbolism, or the “esoteric” properties of plants. We usually do so at the end of the post, however here because there is so much information about Fiddle Leaf Figs and you may know about these plants as well, we would like to begin with the “esoteric” properties.

The Ficus-Lyrata aka The Fiddle-Leaf Fig is thought to be a plant that promotes abundance and happiness, as well as energy clearing. Just for the record most plants that are thought to be air purifying are also considered energy clearing. There may be a correlation, we think so. If you look around you’ll see the ubiquity of these plants especially in the entrances or windows of small businesses. One of the reasons for this is that this plant is thought to be an antenna for abundance. The better it’s environment the higher the frequency to attract abundance for your the Fiddle-Leaf Fig partner. If there is the possibility that you can combine your Fiddle-Leaf Fig with the place in your home where you pray, meditate, or contemplate clarity can be manifested in the process. The better the environment the better the growth, and as it is with the Fiddle-Leaf Fig so should it be with you. The Fiddle-Leaf Fig can help you enhance, maintain, and create a proactive environment. Now some of the basics in care and growth.

One of the biggest errors that we’ve seen is over watering, which is a tendency of people to do is when the plant goes dormant. The Fiddle-Leaf Fig requires patience and much like it’s indigenous environment in the rain forests of central and western Africa it will experience periods of drying out and then deluges of water. However your plant is in a container, many people don’t but we recommend bottom watering, no more than an inch of water during waterings is what we recommend. The importance of finding the best place is key to the growth. Light is key especially, so you want to place your Fiddle-Leaf as close to indirect light as possible and at the same time making sure there is humidity around the plant. This is why in our plant compositions we use rocks we suggest that you mist the rocks as much as possible. Again as with all of our plants we never recommend using tap water to water your plants but if you have to we recommend pouring the water over the charcoal piece that we’ve placed inside of it as it is a natural filter. Once you find the best spot for your Fiddle-Leaf Fig do as little as you can to move it. If and when it does need to be re-potted wait until winter when the tree goes dormant. If you’ve bought your Fiddle Leaf Fig from us at Black Ring Coffee we suggest indirect light to almost shade as this is how ours were grown.
